Morning
Q: Are you a morning person?
A: I’ve become a morning person.
I’ve found that I have the most energy in the morning.
Q: What’s the first thing you do in the morning?
A: I wake up early, before Lola, so that means I have some time alone before the day starts. I turn on my Sona app which increases alpha brain wave activity, and—one hand on my heart and the other on my stomach—I go over my gratitude list in my head.
Q: Favorite breakfast?
A: Avocado toast with smoked salmon and a matcha latte.
Q: Workout or no workout?
A: After I drop Lola at school, I’ll take a bike ride or log into the Melissa Wood Health app. I don’t work out every day. Some days feel gentle, quiet. And some mornings get away from me. But I do try to honor my body, to connect with the spaces around me. Sometimes that’s through movement. Sometimes it’s through stillness. I’ve found strength in both.
Q: Do you have any morning rituals?
A: Yes, I love rituals.
After I run through my gratitude list, I’ll put on a podcast—right now, The Daily Stoic with Ryan Holiday—and head down to my kitchen for some hot water and lemon. I’ll listen—warming up, waking up—as I make coffee.
Once I have a cup of coffee and an ice roller in hand, I’ll head back upstairs, open the windows, and sit in the stillness if I’m lucky, some meditation or stretching before Lola comes in at 7:30. We’ll snuggle—all of us, air and sunlight wandering in—until it’s time for school.
After my husband and I drop Lola off at school, we’ll usually do one of two things: a bike ride in the hills or a coffee date, where we’ll drive to a scenic outlook and just talk. Enjoying the view, enjoying each other’s company.
We head back to the house around 9:30 and settle into our home office for the day. I try not to check social or email before that. Emphasis on try (once again, I do my best).

Q: What does your average day look like?
A: My job has many facets—doing everything everyday was too confusing.
So I’ve become a big believer in task-batching.
Now each day has its own objective, its own opportunities, its own set of to-dos and goals.
Here’s a typical week:
Monday: I plan out my meals, work, and obligations for the week.
Tuesday: I’m on photoshoots for jobs all day.
Wednesday: Zoom day—on average, I’m on five calls but I’ll add in others, depending on what I need to do.
Thursday: I’m running errands, gathering materials and inspiration, going to appointments.
Friday: I close out the week with some admin and billing, and set goals for the following week.
Saturday: I’m back to shoots.
Sunday: We travel. We play. We connect with the spaces around us, the sanctuaries we’ve crafted inside and out. We head out, humbly, into nature—to the desert, to the mountains. We soak up the mystery, the movement, the vastness. We grow closer to the land, to each other, to ourselves. We just grow closer.
Sometimes the tasks at hand shift each week, depending on what comes up or what gets thrown our way. I’ve learned to flow.
Q: How has your background influenced who you are today?
A: As a celebrity stylist, I learned balance—
bridging my client’s satisfaction and growth with my creative evolution.
Building something special takes equal parts empathy and nerve, humility and courage—the strength to listen and the vulnerability to advocate for your vision.
Q: Whilst working where do you go and what do you do to take a break?
A: I take a lot of breaks. When there’s a lot on my plate, I need to get out of my way. To reconnect, to reset my compass, to find my breath. I’ll move around.
Walks, bike rides, stretches in the sun.
I’ll escape to a spot in our backyard—
we call it the Secret Garden—to clear my head and stay hydrated.
Q: What inspires you at the moment?
A: Podcasts, reading, listening to the voices of those who know more than me.
I find myself gravitating to anything on mental health, wellness, routines, and self-discovery.

Q: What do you do to unwind in the evening?
A: Once Lola’s in bed, I’ll take some CBD gummies and read, journal, or take a hot bath or shower. I’ll light my favorite Sidia candle and begin to process the day—the bright moments, the challenges, those tiny but incandescent flickers of inspiration.
Q: What do you usually do for dinner?
A: The afternoons and early evenings are just me and Lola, while my husband finishes up work. After Lola’s bathtime, we all head to the kitchen to make dinner together. My husband runs the show—I’m the sous chef, but I’m learning.
Q: What time do you go to bed?
A: 9:30-10pm.
Q: Last thing you do before you go to sleep?
A: I tape my mouth shut. I know, I know. But it helps promote nose breathing at night, and it’s been a game-changer. I wake up refreshed, ready for the day ahead.
